ORDER BULBS NOW FOR FALL DELIVERY. The varieties listed herein are those we plan to dig this year. Should there be others you desire, we will gladly quote prices. Foreign growers already report being sold out on some of the popular novelties.
In our INFORMATIVE CLASSIFICATION (see back page), we have endeavored to break down the 11 classes of Narcissi (Daffodils) into groups so that they may be readily identified. This is really an attempt to supplement the Royal Horticultural Society’s Classification which is in general use throughout the world. You will discover, upon con- fi sulting the last page, that the letter and numerals * preceeding the variety denote the class to which it belongs: example, 2b-1 Green Island is a large cupped narcissi, has white petals and a yellow cup, whereas 2b-3 Mrs. R. O. Backhouse, also a large cupped narcissi, has white petals and a pink cup.
DAFFODIL BLOOMS available now for Spring Delivery are listed on page 10 and include our famous NOVELTY BOXES as well as SPECIMEN EXHIBITS for Garden Club use.
We have many fine NATURALIZING varieties and upon pecuey will quote prices on large quan- tities.
Note that we list almost 100 MINIATURE AND - ROCKERY TYPES and that these are designated by their height in inches (’’) following the name. See - Angel’s Tears... 4°? - on page 3.
Our PEERLESS MIXTURES are described on page 8.
AGAIN, WE REPEAT, ORDER YOUR BULBS NOW FOR FALL DELIVERY.

MID-SEPTEMBER, when we start shipping is after the State Entomologists have completed their fall inspection and certified all bulbs to be free from disease, it also is the beginning of cooler weather with us and safe then to ship as bulbs do not travel well in hot weather.
SPRINGTIME, while the blooms are fresh in your mind, is the best time to order and safeguards you from the disappointment of ‘‘sell outs’’ on many of the newer novelties later in the season. From about Mid-March through Mid-April we can offer you our absolutely unique “Living Catalogues” (see page 11) from which to make your selections. Our farm, about five miles from Gloucester and only 25 miles from Williamsburg, is open to those interested in seeing the blooms in the open fields. We also Suggest that you attend one or more of the many Shows in which we plan to Exhibit pope Spring, some of which are listed on page 9.
DON’T DELAY ordering -- for best results your bulbs should be planted early and ours MUST be planted by November. As a rule orders are shipped in the order in which they are received
_ although we generally hold those to the deep south
“ for later shipment when the soil there has gotten cool enough to plant safely while those for the far north go out as early as possible. Laggards lose Out as many of the newer novelties sell out early in the season, and they also miss out on the in- teresting BULB discounts we give on orders received before August first.
DAFFODILS ON PARADE AND BUSHEL BARGAINS, a small descriptive list, is published in July after digging and sorting our bulbs and in- cludes those varieties dug as well as a list of surplus stocks which we are able to offer ata great discount in bushel lots. Included too are varied Collections for Beginners as well as for Seasoned Growers and Exhibitors, also a most comprehensive list of Naturalizing varieties at reduced rates. This little catalogue will be sent to all of our regular customers as well as to those who have requested our Spring list. If, however, you are in neither category, please write us and we will be happy to send you one.
NOTE:
We are able to offer a limited eee of that breath-takingly beautiful SALMO (the most highly rated of all pinks) at an eee y low price of $25.00. Suggest you order this early.
ITE MARVEL is reported to be Me only double triandrus to be registered.

PRICES
PRICES, as listed are per bulb and are for top sized, double-nosed bulbs. Do not be led astray by the multitudes of CHEAP offers which are in- variably for small, inferior bulbs. On quantity pur- chases, allow the following discounts; 12 bulbs of a variety for the price of 10; 50 bulbs of a variety for the price of 40; and 100 bulbs of a variety for the price of 70. Write for quotations on larger quan- tities. In this unique business where the price of bulbs continues to go down while the cost of labor, shipping materials and transportation, as well as Parcel Post soars higher daily, we find it imperative to make a charge of 50¢ East of the Mississippi; $1.00 West, to help defray such expenses. Check with order, please, or if desired, they will be sent @.O-D.

MIXTURES
SPECIAL NOVELTY -- An unexcelled mixture con- taining over 500 of the truly distinctive varieties listed in this folder. By the law of averages you should get 40 to 50 and can get up to 100 varieties in 100 bulbs. Planted in a cutting bed they will give ample and diversified blooms for the home over a long period each spring. Each year we discard around 100 varieties to make room for new and improved types. These discards are added to our NOVELTY MIXED which is in a class to itself for those not interested in name varieties, yet who desire fine and unusual flowers over an extended period each spring. $8.00 for 100
SUPER NOVELTY -- Guaranteed to contain 1 bulb each of 100 Novelty types. $12.50 for 100
NATURALIZING -- Only varieties which are adap- table to compete with nature in the wild state. Mixed - White - or Yellow. . $6.00 for 100
ROCKERY MIXTURE = Small types suitable for Rock Garden = $1.50 per dozen; $10.50 per 100.

LABELS FOR DAFFODIL PLANTINGS
We have what we consider the IDFAL label. The 3% by 1 inch Zinc name plate has four holes through which the two 12 inch aluminum legs are inserted. The name plate can never come loose and if names are written on with weatherproof pencil, they will remain legible for at least 2 years. Price per dozen, postpaid $1.50 -- per 100, $8.00.
SHOWS IN WHICH WE PLAN TO EXHIBIT
As this list goes to press so early, many of our dates and arrangements have not as yet been completed, however some few are mentioned below:
March 27-28-29 - American Daffodil Society Convention at the Atlanta-Biltmore Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
March 28 - The Perennial Garden Club Show, Reidsville, North Carolina.
March 29-30 - The Garden Club of Gloucester Show which will be held this year at the Gloucester High School (on Route 17 several miles south of Gloucester Court House): This building is large enough to house this very outstanding show and also offers ample parking facilities. Hours are from 3:30 to 9 on Saturday, 12 to 6 on Sunday. We urge all who can to attend, and, if possible, to exhibit. Write Mrs. Chesterman Constantine, Gloucester, Virginia for details. ;
April 10-11 - Garden Club of Virginia Show at the Belle Haven Country Club, Alexandria, Virginia.
April 16-17 - Maryland Daffodil Society Show at the Museum of Art, Baltimore, Maryland.
April 17-18 - Malcolm’s House and Garden Store, 6309 Reisterstown Road, Baltimore, Maryland. For those who would like to attend in the evening, the store will be open until 9 P.M. on Thursday.
April 19-20 - Washington Daffodil Society Show at Wood- ward and Lothrop’s Store, Bethesda, Md.
A comprehensive collection of blooms from our bulbs may be seen during the season*at Kingwood Center, Mansfield, Ohio, where we have sent many varieties for Naturalizing as well as miniatures and other items of interest.
During our blooming season (approximately March 15 thru April), we maintain a small EXHIBIT at the HODGE PODGE SHOP in Gloucester, Virginia, where Miss Emerson will take orders for bulbs and also can direct you to our farm. We are glad to have those interested come down and look around, although we feel we must warn you in advance that you will not find a large, showy Display Garden, which unfortunately we cannot afford as this is our livelihood and not a hobby. We love seeing our customers although we will undoubtedly be in a mad rush and may not be able to treat you to that famous Virginia hospitality!
NOTE - In view of the long range weather forecast of cone tinued cold for another month, plus the severity of the past winter, we suggest checking on the dates listed above before attending these shows, as some may have to be postponed.

FALL BLOOMING BULBS
Shipped by us in June ONLY and should be planted immediately. Usually available in Seed Stores during Octo- ber. Planted that late their chance of survival, especially in the north, is slim. Large plantings are to be seen at Colonial Williamsburg.
LYCORIS RADIATA (Red Spider Lily) -- Large cir- cular clusters of bright red flowers on 2 foot spikes appear
almost over night in mid September. A long lasting beauti- ful cut flower for the house, or a stunning item in the garden. The foliage appears in October and is a welcome spot of deep green in the garden all winter, disappearing in the spring. $4.00 per dozen.
These bulbs resent transplanting, especially if | done at the wrong time, but will increase rapidly if left undisturbed. Radiata is especially touchy and care must be taken when digging not to break the thick fleshy roots’
- which are never dormant, and take a year to replace if broken.
Allow 50 cents for postage.
